AIU Inter-University NE Youth Festival at USTM: MCU 1st, Cotton 2nd

Winning teams at AIU NE Zone Inter University Youth Festival-2023 at USTM

9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, January 8, 2023: The 36th Inter-University Youth Festival Yuva Pratibha has met a glorious conclusion here today, a historic event as this is for the first time that the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has created the NE zone for the festival and the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) takes pride for hosting this mega event. The Manipur University of Culture has been the overall championship winner, followed by Cotton University as 1st runner-up and Manipur University as the 2nd runner-up, apart from the winners from others participating universities in different categories. Twenty national-level expert and veteran jury members from AIU have judged the various competitions at this successful 5-day-long youth festival.

In the closing ceremony today, Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports, AIU was the chief guest. The prizes were handed over to the winners by Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon; Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM; Prof. G. D. Sharma, VC, USTM, Prof S. K. Sharma, IIT (BHU), Observer from AIU in the presence of the esteemed judges, faculty members from 15 different universities who are staying along with their teams at the University campus during the youth festival.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon said, “I am amazed to see the cultural showcase of the NE region by the talented students. USTM has created history by organizing this festival for the first time, and I wish that next year the number of participants from NE should be double for the national and international competitions”.

In the cultural procession, Cotton University was winner, followed by Tezpur University as the First Runner-up and Manipur University of Culture as the Second Runner-up. In the music category, 1st prize in classical vocal solo went to Sanjukta Phukan of Cotton University, 2nd prize to Akham Jullee Devi of Manipur University of Culture and 3rd prize to Brainy Yumlembam of Manipur University. In the debate competition, the 1st position was taken by Dhanamanjuri University, the first runner-up was Manipur University, and the 2nd runner-up was USTM.

In light vocal, 1st prize went to Nancy Yaithengbam (Manipur University of Culture), 2nd prize to Asha Boro (Bodoland University), 3rd prize to Huidrom Priyalakshmi Devi (Manipur University). In Classical instrumental solo, 1st prize went to Kritiman Pathak (Cotton University), 2nd prize went to Kaushik Das (Gauhati University), 3rd prize to Aribam Rohit Sharma (Manipur University of Culture). In classical instrumental solo (Non. Percussion.) winner was Sanjukta Phukan (Cotton University), Simanta Saikia (Tezpur University) was 1st Runner up and Parineeta Goswami (Gauhati University) was 2nd Runner up.

In group song (Indian) Manipur University of Culture was Winner, Cotton University was 1st Runner up and Tezpur University was 2nd Runner up. In western vocal (Solo) Chaoba Phijam (Manipur University) was winner, Bohniman Aiyan (Cotton University) was 1st Runner up and Ayon Chila Oja (Tezpur University) was 2nd Runner up. In western instrumental (Solo) Thaijon Maibangsa (Cotton University) was the winner, Manoa R Marak (Assam Royal Global University) was1st Runner up, Gangeya Pritom Sharma (Dibrugarh University) was 2nd Runner up. In western group song Gauhati University was winner, Assam Royal Global University was1st Runner up while Manipur University was 2nd Runner up.

In folk orchestra, Dibrugarh University was winner, Manipur University was 1st Runner up and Cotton University was 2nd Runner up. Coming to the category of dance, in Classical dance, Kaku Ahanthem (Manipur University of Culture) was winner, Yumnam Ashok Singh (Manipur University) was1st Runner up and Khirud Borah (Dibrugarh University) was 2nd Runner up. In folk and tribal dance, Cotton University was winner, Manipur University Of Culture was1st Runner up and Tezpur University was 2nd Runner up.

In one act play in the theatre category, Manipur University of Culture was the winner, Gauhati University was 1st Runner up, and Dibrugarh University was 2nd Runner up. In skit, Gauhati University was winner, Cotton University was 1st Runner up and Manipur University was 2nd Runner up.

In the category of mime, Manipur University was winner, Gauhati University was 1st Runner up and Manipur University of Culture was 2nd Runner up. In mimicry, fist position went to Bidisha Borgohain (Gauhati University), 2nd position to Debarpit Chakraborty (I.C.F.A.I University, Tripura) and 3rd position to Nabajyoti Ray (Cotton University).

In quiz, Tezpur Universitywas Winner, Cotton University was 1st Runner up, and Gauhati University was 2nd Runner up. In elocution, 1st position went to Nilanjana Parashar (Assam Royal Global University), 2nd position to Hansen Ngairangbam (Dhanamanjuri University) and 3rd position to Farah Khan (North Eastern Hill University).

On spot painting under fine arts category, Keithellakpam Sailex (Manipur University of Culture) was the winner, Rajdeep Barman (Gauhati University) was 1st Runner up and Rinhor Varah (Manipur University) was 2nd Runner up. In poster making, Laishram Bipin Singh (Manipur University Of Culture) was the winner, Soraijam Ajit Singh (Dhanamanjuri University) was the1st Runner up, and Mayang lambam Wilson Singh (Manipur University) was 2nd Runner up.

In cartooning, 1st position went to Laishram Bipin Singh (Manipur University of Culture)2nd position went to Chaiwang Wangsa (Rajiv Gandhi University) and 3rd position went to Mayang Lambam Wilson Sing (Manipur University). In Collage, Bode Swuro (Assam Royal Global University) was the winner, Telen Khaidem (Dhanamanjuri University) was 1st Runner up and Keithellakpam Sailex (Manipur University Of Culture) was 2nd Runner Up.

In Rangoli, Chiranjib Handique (Dibrugarh University) was winner, Laishram Bipin Singh (Manipur University of Culture) was 1st Runner up and Soraijam Ajit Singh (Dhanamanjuri University) was 2nd Runner up. In Clay Modelling, Yumkhaibam Sanachaoba (Manipur University) was winner, Soraijam Ajit Singh (Dhanamanjuri University) was 1st Runner up and Barsha Phukan (University of Science and Technology Meghalaya) was 2nd Runners up.

In Spot Photography, Bishal Das (Dibrugarh University) was winner, Pranab Saikia (Gauhati University) was 1st Runner up and Shaiwang Wangsa (Rajiv Gandhi University) was 2nd Runner up. In Mehendi, Parineeta Das (Assam Royal Global University) was winner, Saraswati Modak (Bodoland University) was 1st Runner up and Shabnam. A. Kausar (University of Science and Technology Meghalaya) was 2nd Runner up. In Installation, Manipur University of Culture was Winner, Rajiv Gandhi University was 1st Runner up and Tezpur University was 2nd Runner up.

Prizes were also given category-wise. In Music category, Cotton University was Winner, Manipur University was 1st Runner up and Manipur University of Culture was 2nd Runner up. In Dance category, Manipur University of Culture was Winner, Cotton University was 1st Runner up while Tezpur University & Manipur University were placed as 2nd Runner up teams. In Theatre category, Gauhati University was Winner, Manipur University of Culture & Manipur University were 1st Runner up and Cotton University was 2nd Runner up. In literary category, Dhanamanjuri University was Winner, Tezpur University was 1st Runner up and Manipur University, Cotton University and Assam Royal Global University were 2nd Runner up. In the Fine Arts category, Manipur University of Culture was Winner, Dhanamanjuri University was 1st Runner up and Manipur University was 2nd Runner up.

A total of 15 universities participated in this youth festival, including Gauhati University, Cotton University, Bodoland University, ICFAI University, Tripura, Tezpur University, Dibrugarh University, National Sports University, North Eastern Hill University, Rajiv Gandhi University, Dhanamanjuri University, Manipur University, Manipur University of Culture, Royal Global University, Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati, and the host USTM.
