Workshop on "Goods & Services Tax: Registration,
e-Filing and Compliance"
Ri Bhoi, USTM, 13 April 2018: The
Department of Commerce, University of Science &
Technology, organized a 10 day long workshop
titled "Goods & Services Tax: Registration,
e-Filing and Compliance" for skill formation and
enhancing employability of the students. The
Workshop began with the Inaugural session on 4
April. It continued till 13 April 2018.
Dr. Ankit Todi, Tax expert and Advocate, Gauhati
High Court graced the occasion as Chief Guest
and CA Mohan Agarwal as GST Expert. He discussed
about the calculation of GST. Prof. Sujit
Sikidar enlightened the participants with the
evolution of GST in India.
The Inaugural session was graced by Dr. RK
Sharma, Vice Chancellor, USTM along with Dr.
Amit Choudhury, Dean, School of Business
Sciences; Dr. Ajmal Barbhuiya; Academic
Registrar, USTM; Heads of the various
Departments; and faculty members of USTM.
Technical sessions on Registration, e-Filing and
Compliance of GST was started from 5 April to 13
April, 2018. The technical sessions were
resourced by tax consultant Mr. Debabrata Das
from Debabrata Das & Asscociate, Guwahati. The
sessions were also enriched by Department
faculty members, Dr. Abdur Rashid, Hari Mall
Thakuri and Subash Limbu.
The Workshop provided opportunities to the
commerce students for enhancing their
employability by imparting skills that is
required to register a firm under GST Act and
various e-filings and compliances. The workshop
also empowered them with the ability to file
income tax for themselves as well as for others.
