Graduate Congress 2018 scheduled on 16, 17 & 18
February

Congregation of more than 10 thousand
graduates expected at the 5th NEGC -2018
GUWAHATI, 18 December, 2017: North East
Graduate Congress (NEGC)—the most acclaimed
flagship programme patronized by ERD Foundation
will commence in the University of Science &
Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) for the fifth time
from 16 to 18 February 2018 with an expected
participation of more than 10 thousand students
from about 500 colleges across the North East.
Attractive awards including two wheelers,
laptops, tablets, mobile phones and cash prizes
will be given to the winners of different
competitions. Prof. Ved Prakash, former Chairman
of University Grants Commission will grace the
Congress and deliver the Keynote Address while
renowned author, entrepreneur and youth expert
Rashmi Bansal and reputed motivational trainer
Thomas John Rose are going to address different
sessions, apart from other dignitaries. The
Chancellor USTM and chairman Erd Foundation Shri
Mahbubul Hoque stated that Shri Pranab Mukherjee,
the Hon’ble former President of India has shown
his interest to attend the congress during a
meeting with the Chancellor recently in New
Delhi.
NEGC is a unique confluence of students’
community of undergraduate level assembling in a
single and massive platform held every year
under the aegis of USTM in association with RIST
(Regional Institute of Science and Technology).
The main thrust of NEGC is to facilitate the
aspiring and budding youth to have direct
interactive sessions with renowned academicians,
educationists, industrialists and entrepreneurs
of national and international repute in a single
platform enabling them to shape and mould their
career to befit the emerging needs of modern
technologies and move towards new horizons for a
self reliant and developed India.
The sessions will include Personality
Development & Soft Skills, Competitive
Examinations, Youth and Entrepreneurship and
Panel Discussion on “Youth, Politics and
Corruption”. Among different competition Debate
Competition and “Best Graduate Competition” are
one the major attraction along with Quiz and
photography competitions. The topic of the
debate competition of NEGC 2018 is “GST is the
Instrument of Economic Growth”.
Like every year various sports and cultural
competitions are also being organized during the
mega event. The sports competitions include
football, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi and
carrom. Among which Football and Kabaddi are
introduced this year based on the demand of the
students.
Preparations for the 5th NEGC 2018 at USTM are
going on in full swing. All students studying in
graduation level can participate in NEGC.
Teacher or Coordinator from different college or
institution will select the students and forward
the names to the organizers. All participants
attending the Congress are required to fill a
registration form and submit to the Organizing
Secretary, NEGC on or before 30 January 2018.
All the students will be awarded Certificate of

USTM is the first private university in North
East India situated in Ri Bhoi district of
