More than 250 engineering students were given fond farewell at RIST

“Engineering students should prefer to go for entrepreneurship rather than simply seeking jobs once they pass out from their institute”- this was told by Prof Anupam Saikia, Associate Dean IIT Guwahati while addressing in the farewell ceremony of Regional Institute of Science & Technology(RIST) on 13th June 2017.Prof Saikia who worked in top institutes in India and abroad emphasized on the creation of more entrepreneurial ventures which will have positive impacts on the economic growth of the country as well as help create jobs for the unemployed youths. More than 250 odd engineering students of RIST were given fond farewell by the faculty members, junior students and other administrative staff of the institute.
During his welcome address Dr P.C Mahanta, Director of the institute encouraged the outgoing students saying that this premier institute has already produced more than 1000 brilliant engineers who are now serving in reputed organizations in various parts of the country and outside India while many are serving in Government Sectors. Dr R K Sarma, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Science & Technology,Meghalaya who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour congratulated the students for their successful completion of the B.Tech courses from the prestigious and oldest central university of the region. During his speech he urged upon the students to utilize their knowledge and technical skills for the uplift of the society which they have earned during their courses of study.
Shri N I Laskar, a renowned PR consultant during his speech said that students of this institute have a good track record of showing outstanding performances both in curricular and extracurricular activities. While wishing for a bright future to the outgoing students he urged upon them to continue striving hard for achieving excellence in whatever filed they will move through which they can bring laurels to their families and institutions.
While offering vote of thanks Dr AH Barbhuiya, Registrar of the institute thanked the outgoing student’s guradinas parents for their tremendous contribution in building this great institute in this part of the country. Dr Barbhuiya during his concluding remarks to the students said “we are proud of your many achievements over the years, your various accomplishments in different fields, your brilliant academic discourse and in sports are really acknowledged. Your sweet memories will remain forever in our hearts”.
