Message for Students Community on Independence
Day
Today’s students are tomorrow’s builders of the
nation. Students’ community must develop their
mindset towards the unity and integrity of the
nation and inculcate the moral values within
them. This was urged by Mr. Mahbubul Hoque,
Chairman of ERD Foundation and Regional
Institute of Science & Technology on the
occasion of Independence Day, 2014.
Along with the whole nation, the 68th
Independence Day has been celebrated with great
zeal and enthusiasm in the campus of Regional
Institute of Science & Technology, 9th Mile, a
state of art Engineering College, affiliated to
North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, and
approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The National Flag,
the symbol of our national pride and
sovereignty, was hoisted at 8.35 am by Dr. P.G
Rao, Vice Chancellor of University of Science &
Technology Meghalaya. While talking about the
significance of the Day, Dr. Rao expressed his
gratitude, on behalf of all, to those great men
and women whose selfless sacrifices made us to
live in an independent country today. Mr.
Mahbubul Hoque in his speech emphasized on the
fact that India is a rural based country and the
growth of the country would largely depend on
the growth of the rural areas. Dignitaries
present in the ceremony expressed their great
concern on the present scenario of the country
where the citizens do not feel independent even
in respect of their fundamental rights. The role
of educational institutions is crucial in
changing this scenario. They urged the students
Community to equip themselves with high standard
of education and technological skills which are
the instrumental for the progress of the nation.
The celebration was attended by all the high
officials, students, guardians and staff of RIST
including local inhabitants.
